Mystic Woods

Plotline

On the very fringes of Virginia, nestled amongst acres of old-wood forest and trickling streams sits the quaint little town of Mystic Woods. There is nothing particularly extraordinary about its outward appearance. There is the usual cluster of small homes surrounding the village center, the heart of which contain the typical “local watering hole,” church, and village green, all great places for sharing the day or passing gossip.   The residents of Mystic Woods stroll about their little town, happy and care-free.  They celebrate ordinary holidays and play ordinary basketball games and enjoy ordinary cookouts.  But Mystic Woods is anything but ordinary.

The residents of Mystic Woods feel safe in their quiet little town, but that is anything but the truth.  The truth is that the “normal” people of Mystic Woods are in grave danger for they had no idea what is really going on behind that silky curtain of normalcy.  They have no idea of the kind of creatures that live in their small town, no idea who – or better yet, what – their friends really are. To this very day, they are still very unaware, but will that all change? A war between hunters and the creatures will soon be breaking out, a war that is even too strong for the humans to ignore. A war that might endanger the whole of Mystic Woods as we know it…

But how has this all come about, you ask? Vampires, witches, and werewolves have been roaming the Earth since the Earth was formed so many millions of years ago and living right under our noses for generations!  Even the best and brightest among us have had no clue their existence.  Only a small number of people have their theories and are determined to get to the bottom of the mystery, completely oblivious to the fact that they might be endangering their lives, and even more so, the lives of the people they loved most. Who will survive this battle between the supernatural? And worst of all, who will die…?

The quiet, idyllic life of Mystic Woods is shattered upon hearing the news that a local teenage girl, Alison DiLaurentis, was murdered.  People began to panic and worry about the murderer that was living in their very town.  Most of the residents had no idea that the so-called “murderer” was, in reality, vampires - living and breathing right in Mystic Woods, looking like ordinary human beings.  Only the police, members of a Secret Council with the goal to rid the town of the supernatural once and for all, know what really happened and are covering up the local girl’s murderer. They explain it away as purely an accident, attempting to keep the townspeople in the dark, off the path of understanding, and out of harm’s way.

Alison’s friends aren’t so convinced about the police account of the “accident.”  They have a strong sense that this was no accident and that something strange is going on.  They begin to try to fit the pieces together, but each time they come close to finding something out, they receive text messages. The messages threaten them to stop investigating, which only makes them more determined to find out what happened. When their loved ones are threatened too, will they stop looking to protect them? Or will they become even more determined to find out what the town doesn’t want them to know? And even with all this chaos, that’s not the end of the mysteries for Mystic Woods – for Alison won’t remain dead for very long.

To complicate things even more, there are many eyes watching the activities of Alison’s friends – Supernatural eyes – Supernatural creatures that are watching every move that they make and determined to keep the girls from finding out the truth. They don’t want the girls to discover who they truly are or that these beings are their friends. But with the looming death of the beloved Alaric Saltzman – teacher and hunter, there’s a war brewing. The hunters and council members know who these creatures are, and are out to kill every last one of them. Even if it means the town finding out what has really been going on. But which side will the witches take? You see, the council members are still very unaware of witches, who are closer to human than the werewolves and especially the vampires. The hunters seem to want to get rid of vampires and werewolves first, but most don’t see witches as bad. So when the time is right, will the witches take the supernatural creatures’ side – or will they help the town, the council, and the humans to kill them all? Only time will tell.  There’s only one thing that’s guaranteed for sure – an endless supply of questions, mystery, murder, and mayhem in Mystic Woods.
